Andrew Small
Sydney based artist & designer, Kris Andrew Small, creates abstract, energetic and flamboyant pieces using photo based collage, texture and typography. His work is the result of multiple influences, in particular his childhood growing up in the 90s in a tropical part of Australia.
Having worked on a broad variety of projects across advertising, fashion, and branding, Kris has collaborated with clients including Adobe, Nike, Samsung and Sydney Opera House.

"
I wanted to push my type into a direction I hadn’t before and make it a little more of a dynamic composition.
"
I thought it might be interesting for me to start adding a collage treatment to people who I thought were really interesting in pop culture right now. Almost so eventually I could look back and it would be a documentation of people who had inspired me over time.
"
It was really interesting to see the project go from a simple poster, to a full on festival branding project that was rolled out onto so many deliverables. Seeing the work go from a small thing on screen to a 30 metre printed silk banner was incredibly satisfying.
"
It’s easy for so much of your work to live online, so it's really liberating to see my work in a more real life context, I’ve always loved screen printing as a medium as I think it’s such an exciting way to play with colour.
"
I always want to be learning something new about my work and finding new ways for it to exist, animating seemed like a natural progression and a good way to give the energy in the work that extra push.
